As the month creeps closer and closer to Halloween Bloomington-Normal gets ready for the spookiest holiday of the year with many themed events. To find out the best events in Bloomington-Normal this weekend continue reading.

Thursday

Haunted Trails | Constitution Trail | 6-8 pm

Normal’s Haunted trail opens up its three-day stay this weekend with its non-spooky running of the trail. Be ready to be given chills by displays, lighting effects and more on this trail. The trail lasts a quarter of a mile. Can food donation will be accepted this weekend. There is a limited capacity of 1,600 guests, once that limit is reached the trail will be closed. Next weekend the trail will return as a spooky version.

Friday

A Haunting at the Chateau | Chateau Hotel | 4-8 pm

Come to the Chateau Hotel in Bloomington for a haunted night that kicks off its two-day event on Friday. The historic hotel will play host to a haunted house this weekend. The haunted house will take visitors through the lobby, dining hall, library and other spooky areas. All proceeds will go to support the MC Dragons baseball team.

Saturday

St. Mary’s Chili Cook-off and Beer Festival | Bloomington Convention Center | 10:30 am-10 pm

The annual St. Mary’s Chili Cook-off and Beer Festival will hold its 12th event this weekend in Bloomington. The chili section of the event will take the morning before the beer event starts at 4 pm. Lil Beaver brewery and the event crafted the signature beer ‘the Crusaders’ for the event. Food will be provided by Tony’s Tacos and Green Gables. All day long there will be bounce houses, face painting and games for families. Kyle Yap and Union Avenue will perform onstage.

Harvest Fest: Arts in the Garden |Community Gardens | 1-4 pm

Bloomington welcomes another art festival to the area Saturday. Community Gardens will be taken over by arts, crafts and live music. Some of the events include an open mic, make-and-take section, plant swap and more.

Spooktacular | Miller Park Zoo | 5-8 pm

Miller Park Zoo kicks off its Spooktacular party with a scary version of the event before the less spooky version on Sunday. Saturday’s event will feature local vendors, crafts, face painting, games and more. Hop a ride on the hayride for a tour around the zoo.
