Five things to do this weekend: ISU homecoming, Classic Cars and Candy Bars fills Bloomington-Normal’s packed weekend

Bloomington-Normal offers a ton of events coming up this weekend, with Illinois State’s homecoming serving as the headliner. To find out the rest of the list continue reading below:

Friday

Classic Cars and Candy Bars | 3 – 5 pm

On Friday, the Miller Park Zoo will combine a car show with Halloween. Adults can come out and check out the classic cars, while kids can leave with a Halloween-themed goodie bag. The event is free to attend with a canned food donation drive set up.

Book signing at Bobzay books | 4 – 6 pm

Bobzay welcomes three horror/suspense writers to Bloomington this week for a signing. On Friday, Pete Altieri, Olivia J. Bennet and Sue Rovens will be in attendance for fans. Those who attend will have the chance to get their books signed by the authors and a chance to talk about the books.

Saturday

Illinois State homecoming events | 8 am

On Saturday, Illinois State has a packed slate of events scheduled for homecoming. Starting at 8 am, ISU will honor its great sports stars from the past in the Percy Family Hall of Fame Induction. Following the ceremony, the parade will start at 10 am. After the parade, head to the football fields for tailgating with Reggie Redbird. ISU plays South Dakota at 2 pm. After the football game, ISU hits the volleyball court to take on Evansville.

Brews and Grooves | 5 – 8 pm

On Sunday Bloomington-Normal’s beer and music festival comes to the Corn Crib. A ticket will allow guests to sample 10 beers and take home a commemorative cup. Along with beer from Destihl, Keg Grove Brewery, Riggs Brewery and more, there will be live music coming from two stages.

Sunday

Oktoberfest Rotary Run | 2 – 4 pm

The rotary club holds its annual fall run, but with a twist. After finishing the annual race, participants have the chance to take part in a full German experience. After the race come in for polish sausage, polka music and German Beer from White Oak Brewery. Steins will be given out to the top three finishers in each age group.
